Visual Arts
A category for original visual works that communicate ideas with conceptual depth.
The Visual Arts category honors original two- or three-dimensional work that demonstrates both technical skill and conceptual depth. Submissions may be created in any medium and should reflect a clear artistic intention, thoughtful execution, and personal or intellectual engagement.
This category welcomes artists who use visual language to explore form, emotion, and meaning.

• Drawing or painting
• Photography
• Digital Illustration
• Mixed media
• Sculpture or installation (documented through images)

Author’s Note (Maximum 200 words)
A short reflective note following the manuscript that may include

Additional Notes
• Each applicant may submit only one entry in the category
• Submissions must be written in English. You may attach an addition version in your native language, but the English version will be used for review.
• Previously published, AI-generated, or plagiarized work will not be considered.
• Feedback will not be provided on individual submissions.
Originality Policy
All submissions must be the applicant’s own, original work.
Submissions must not have been previously published, formally submitted to other competitions, or generated in whole or in part by artificial intelligence tools. Work that is found to be plagiarized or in violation of these guidelines will be disqualified without exception.
Applicants are expected to uphold the values of integrity, authorship, and independent thought that define the spirit of the Hearth Fellowship Prize.
Optional
• If your work is time-based (e.g., installation, video, projection), you may also submit a video link (hosted on YouTube or Vimeo)
Artist’s Statement (Maximum 300 words)
• All Visual Arts submissions must include an accompanying Artist’s Statement. This brief written text should provide the judge with context that cannot be conveyed through the visual work alone. The statement will not be scored for literary quality, but it will be reviewed carefully to understand the artist’s thought process and intent.
Your statement must clearly address the following
1. Conceptual Basis - What idea, theme, or question inspired this work?
2. Medium & Process - Why did you choose this medium or technique, and how did you execute the piece?
3. Artistic Intention - What do you hope the viewer sees, feels, or considers when experiencing the work?
4. (Optional) - Is there a personal, cultural, or philosophical influence behind the piece you would like to share.
Please write in clear, reflective language. Technical art theory is not required - sincerity, clarity, and depth of thought are valued most.
